The renowned Danish architect Hans Olsen is behind the light and elegant chair The Orange, which was designed in the 50s. Thanks to its classic expression, The Orange is a chair that complements both modern and more timeless interiors, and will be added effortlessly to existing furniture in the home. The Orange chair from Hans Olsen's hand is one of the earliest known shell chairs and has been nicknamed the Orange because of its characteristic back and seat, reminiscent of orange peels. With reference to the era's color experiments and the architect's own playful attitude to design, the upholstered shell chair is also available in a two-tone variant.

Hans Olsen

Born in 1919 in Denmark, Hans Olsen (1919-1992) was a Danish furniture designer who created numerous pieces in his own distinctive style. He pursued his studies at the Royal Danish Academy under the direction of the famous designer Kaare Klint from 1941 to 1943. He opened his own studio in 1953 and began to exhibit his works at the Cabinetmakers Guild in Copenhagen.

Olsen's work is characteristic of mid-20th century design, presenting plunging organic curves and the fusion of multiple materials in one piece. The designer was known for his innovative utilization of wood lamellé plié, as evidenced by his emblematic Bikini Chair. Created for the first time in 1960 for Frem Røjle, a furniture manufacturing company, this aura led to the many collaborations for several pieces, now famous.

Another must-have piece of the creator is the Fried Egg Chair. This chaise longue is unique in its genre.
