Bar cabinet by Torbjorn Afdal for Mellemstrands Trevareindustri. This is in beautifully patinated Brazilian rosewood which has the most wonderful grain pattern. The front doors on the top open to a mirrored cabinet with a light and inbuilt ice bucket and the bottom doors open to a cabinet with shelving and bottle racks. This bar cabinet also has a worktop that can be pulled open.

Torbjørn Afdal
Norway (1917-1999)
Torbjørn Afdal started as a designer at Bruksbo Tegnekontor in 1946 and was among the most prolific post-war Norwegian designers.
Today Afdal is considered as one of Norway’s most famous designers. His furniture was among the collections of The White House and the Japanese Emperor. Torbjørn Afdal received the gold medal at the 1959 craft fair So wohnt Europa in Munich for work including the dining set Form.
In 1960 Torbjørn Afdal designed the multi-purpose bench Krobo. It became an instant classic in Norway because of its unique flexibility and many uses. Considered among Afdal’s classics are Krobo, Times liquor cabinet and Minerva range of conference furniture.
