The Ballon Floor Lamp was creatively influenced by the endlessly graceful and harmonious forms of plants and flowers. The rotating, adjustable wooden panel and the marble base bring a strong element of natural, organic elegance to the luminaire, and the prestigious 24K gold-plated metal frames add a touch of timeless luxury.

Mikko Kärkkäinen
Tunto Design’s founder and designer Mikko Kärkkäinen has made an art form out of combining the natural beauty of wood with the latest LED & OLED technology. With a background in both design and artisan carpentry, Kärkkäinen has a long history with using wooden materials creatively.
True to the company name “Tunto” (Finnish for sense or feeling), Kärkkäinen still begins each design process by getting a physical feel for the material and drawing initial designs on paper. Mikko’s depth of knowledge means he is able to think outside the proverbial box when he’s designing. Hence, every Tunto Design product ends up with a distinctive DNA that results from Mikko’s unique point of view.
Mikko’s designs for Tunto have received numerous international awards over the years. He has also been recognized as one of the prominent contemporary European designers in the form of the “Europe 40 under 40” award, and has received the official Finnish State Award in Design 2015.
