Rudi Merz’s light lounge chair is comfortable to sit on and very durable, even though the dimensions might look small to one’s eye. The master cabinet maker also wanted the chair to be cozy for anyone, and wishes that the user would add as many pillows as necessary. As the name suggests, the Arte products were developed for special, unique projects, such as an architectural biennale, a culture sauna or an art gallery, to name a few. The collection also includes Nikari’s oldest product still in production, the Alvar tray by Alvar Aalto from the 1960’s.

Rudi Merz
Rudi Merz (b. 1948) was born in Switzerland and ended up in Finland when he got an opportunity to do his internship in Yrjö Kukkapuro’s interior design office. Since he has worked both as a carpenter and a carpentry teacher.
