How to choose the right size for your Scandinavian pendant light?
When it comes to selecting the ideal Scandinavian pendant light for your space, dimensions are of utmost importance. The variety of Scandinavian pendant lights in terms of size, colors and materials is vast, but for your lighting fixture to fit harmoniously into your decoration, it is essential to follow certain rules.
First of all, you need to assess whether your room is suitable for installing a pendant light. Indeed, rooms with low ceilings can present particular challenges, because a suspension must in no way hinder the movement of people or become an obstacle. The minimum ceiling height to showcase a pendant light without hindrance is approximately 2.50 meters, and it is essential that the bottom of the pendant light is at a minimum height of 2.15 meters. These considerations significantly narrow down your pendant size options if you don't have a room with high ceiling height. However, there are exceptions to this rule. For example, for lighting above a dining table or a kitchen island, a Scandinavian pendant light whose bottom is located between 65 cm and 1 meter from the table top can be considered.
How to Calculate the Ideal Size of Your Scandinavian Pendant Lamp?
For a ceiling height between 2.50 meters and 3 meters, here is a quick calculation to determine the ideal size of your Scandinavian pendant light: add the length and width of the room in meters, multiply this result by 8, and you will obtain the ideal diameter in centimeters. For example, if your room is 3 meters long by 4 meters wide, the calculation would be: 3 + 4 = 7.7 × 8 = 56 cm.
If you are considering installing several Scandinavian pendant lights above a table, bar or central island, keep in mind that a pendant should not have a diameter larger than 3/4 of the width of your table or bar. For example, if your table is 90 cm wide, the calculation would be: 90 x 0.75 = 67.5 cm.
In the case of long tables (more than 240 cm), homogeneous lighting over the entire surface may require the use of 2 to 3 pendant lights. It is then recommended to divide the ideal diameter by the number of suspensions.
