Dennis Abalos is an Industrial Designer based in Sydney, Australia. His work ranges from self produced designs to collaborative design work for a wide variety of companies on projects in furniture, homewares and lighting design, to interior and exhibition design. He completed a Bachelor in Industrial Design with First Class Honours as well as a Sub Major in Furniture Design at the University of Technology, Sydney in 2005. Dennis fuses his traditional craft-based skills from his Philippine heritage with the fresh and limitless ideology of modern Australian Design. His philosophy and approach is to discover and recognise opportunities for innovation and create fresh design solutions that contribute positively to people’s experiences. Having always produced consistently unique work, Dennis pushes production techniques and materials to innovative forms and fresh ideas in furniture, lighting and other products. As an ambitious and passionate designer, Dennis also spends his time developing his own collection in furniture, lighting and homewares under the abalos brand. His design endeavours have led him to achieve industry recognition and has recently been awarded an international Red Dot Design Concept Award. Dennis continues to design and collaborate with local and international manufacturers and several products are currently in production.
